Come Meet the Makers of Sakhar Jams!
SAKHAR is the creation of Reshma Mahadkar and Jessica Henry. While growing up in the outskirts of Mumbai, Resh fed her insatiable love for fruit and adventure by stealing guavas, tamarinds, and pomegranates from her neighbors. Some 8,000 miles away, Jess lived in Columbia, SC where she spent her high school years helping build her family’s house and canning fruits and vegetables with her mother. Resh eventually landed in Columbia herself, on the same street as Jess. Years later in 2020, Resh and Jess both found themselves at career and life crossroads. Building on their strong friendship and armed with their childhood knowledge and love of fruit, they set out to meld South Carolina’s bountiful supply of fresh fruit into jams, jellies and marmalades. Since then they have cultivated a strong following in Columbia, Charleston, Greenville and nationwide with their unique small batch jams featuring delicate florals, teas, and high-end liquors.
